Things I’ve Been Loving This Summer

August 31, 2017

Okay wait, where has this summer gone?

Can you believe we’re already approaching the end of August?! And to think my tan is far from where I would like it to be…

Anyways, before summer officially escapes us, I thought I’d share a few products that I’ve been obsessing over this season. While I’m all for enjoying the little things like Vitamin D itself (hey Mr. Sun) I will admit that having these products at my fingers tips have made my Summer 2017 experience all the more enjoyable!

Personally, I love reading these posts because it saves me time, effort and money when it comes to trying new products. Plus, who doesn’t love a good product review filled with exciting and seasonal inspiration? With that being said, let’s jump right to a list of my current summer favorites!

Don’t forget to click the title to find a link for each product!

Too Faced Natural Love Shadow Palette:

The packaging and the shadow colors themselves are pretty self-explanatory when it comes to talking about how amazing this product is. I’ve been using this palette religiously over the past few months and all of the natural colors, in particular, have totally been my jam this summer.

  • 30 shades for the best natural look
  • Long lasting, high-quality shadows
  • Pairs well with any outfit

Pearlessence Rosewater Facial Toner:

If you don’t already know the benefits of rosewater, I suggest you do your research because this stuff is a miracle that does wonders for your skin! Spraying this toner on my face has seriously become an addiction of mine because I love the way it leaves my skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. I use it most after the shower, or before bed.

  • An amazing, yet subtle floral scent.
  • Inexpensive.
  • Gentle & hydrating
  • Perfect for traveling
  • Tip: Use it after applying your makeup for a “dewy glow”.

Side Note: I wasn’t able to find this toner online, but pearlessence products can be found at Urban Outfitters!

Precision Pore Cleansing Pad:

The real question is, how am I just finding out about these cleansing pads now?! I randomly stole my sister’s one night thinking it wouldn’t do much but I instantly fell in love. So much so that I actually canceled plans the next day to go out and get two of my own. Yes not one, but two.

  • Leaves your skin feeling smooth and exfoliated
  • Helps to reduce blackheads and dry skin
  • Enhances your skincare/cleansing routine
  • Suctions to your sink or bathroom mirror, making it easily accessible (and fun to play with might I add…)
  • Small and compact
  • Affordable

Milkshake Purple Shampoo:

Like everyone else, my hair always gets lighter and brighter from the sun which is something I love most about the summer. It’s almost like I got it done without the added expense and no one will ever know (mwaha). Unfortunately, though, it’s not always as easy to escape the yellow brassiness that comes with being a blonde, which is why I have been loving this purple shampoo. I know purple shampoo isn’t a new concept, but trust me when I say that I’ve tried a bunch of different brands on the market and this one really stuck! Even if you’re not blonde yourself, I highly suggest you recommend it to a friend or family member who is.

  • Protects colored hair (that we all spend millions on, am I right?)
  • Removes any brassiness or yellow undertones
  • Leaves your hair looking lighter & brighter
  • Gives off that “white blonde” look
  • Lasts a while since the recommended use is 1-2 per week

Side note: I found this product on Amazon if you want to order it online, but I got mine at my local hair salon for $25!

Eat Smart Cookbook

I’m not sure if this is a biased opinion because I am borderline obsessed with her, but Niomi Smart’s cookbook has been a staple in my kitchen this summer. I was so excited to finally get my hands on my own copy and I have been experimenting with her delicious recipes ever since! Tip: Her famous mac n’ cheese is to die for and was even boyfriend approved… #winning

  • Easy to read with mouth watering recipes that will make you hungry (just wait)
  • Loaded with plant-based recipes that are suitable for everyone
  • Inspiring lifestyle book with tips and advice on healthy living
  • Amazing photography (If you’re into that kind of thing like myself)

Nutritional Yeast

Aka nooch, aka the holy grail. Seriously, I put this sh*t on EVERYTHING. Dressings, salads, sauces, quinoa, veggies. Whatever the dish, it’s on there. I actually bought this product a while ago but was never really sure how to use it. It was only a matter of time before I just started dumping it on stuff, and now I am obsessed. Plus, all of its added health benefits make it even more delicious!

  • Tangy and cheesy flavor
  • Rich in Vitamin B12
  • Complete plant-based protein
  • Staple ingredient to make plant-based cheese
  • Tip: Try making popcorn with melted coconut oil, then sprinkle it with nutritional yeast and pink salt and thank me later!

Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend

This was a last minute addition to the list, but when I found myself pretty much eating it with a spoon I figured it was good enough to mention! Sprinkle this stuff on whatever you’d like to make it feel like you’re eating an everything bagel (seriously). These guys aren’t easy to find, but when you do, you’ll probably do a little happy dance like I did.

  • Tastes just like an everything bagel… without the bagel
  • Suitable for garlic & salt lovers
  • Tip: my favorite pairing has been cucumber slices, kite hill cream cheese and a sprinkle of this seasoning!

H&M Gold Loafers

In the summer, I’m all about having shoes that are easy to slip on as I’m running out the door. Then, it’s an added bonus when they’re super trendy and can dress up any outfit – hello gold loafers! My go-to this summer has been a basic black summer dress, with my loafers and gold accessories (usually hoops).

  • Bright, shiny and super cute
  • Affordable, but also don’t “look cheap”
  • Comfortable
  • Dresses up a simple outfit
  • Easy slip on shoes

Side Note: Unfortunately these are sold-out online but I highly suggest you peek into your nearest store! You might even get lucky and find them the summer sales. 😉

Saje Aroma Gem Diffuser

This takes the cake as my favorite of all favorites! My little matte white aroma gem is great for elevating well-being by purifying the air with 100% natural oils. I seriously can’t go a day without using it! I use it all hours of the day, but my absolute favorite is turning it on while I fall asleep or simply if I need to wind down after a long day. Plus, it looks so pretty in my room! My current go-to diffuser blend is rain forest, but there are so many goodies to choose from!

  • Purifies the air by diffusing 100% natural essential oils
  • Elevates well-being and combats stress
  • Noise-free
  • Cute addition to room deco!

The Wellness Project

Having a summer favorites post without including a good book seems like a sin! Reading is something I look forward to most in the summer months, whenever I find the time that is. I still find so much pleasure in borrowing books from my public library (yes, I actually do this), but then I often struggle to sit back, relax and actually read them. Can anyone else relate?

This is when my audible app quickly becomes my best friend. Much like podcasts, listening to a book on audible is a great way to read on the go and make dreadful tasks like long commutes or cardio sessions much more enjoyable!

I stumbled upon a review of Phoebe’s book The Wellness Project in a blog post that I was reading by Jessie Shynder over on faring-well. Her review of this book is so beautifully written, that I couldn’t help but to give it a read myself, and I’m so glad I did. Check out Jessie’s description here, where you will find a delicious quinoa breakfast bowl recipe too. 😉

I highly suggest The Wellness Project anyone who is looking to do right for their bodies, without giving up their lives, just as Phoebe writes on the cover of her book. Her story is not only honest and relatable but also very informative in a relaxed and humorous way. Let me know in the comments below if you end up giving her book a chance. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I better end this post now before I start adding more stuff to the list because trust me, it could go on forever. Let me know if you enjoy these seasonal favorites posts because I’d love to keep writing them!

Ahhhh! These types of posts are honestly my favourite, I’m a sucker for knowing what products bloggers put on a pedestal.

Thanks to you, I’m going to get my hands on all of these (especially the rosewater toner).

P.S. I can’t live without my sage diffuser, great add.
